The University was established in 1953 and directly under the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. In Sep.1998 the institute became one to be jointly built by both the state and Shandong province. Since it was founded, the University encouraged the school doctrine of "rigour, diligence, truthfulness, innovation", has graduated over 40,000 professionals at all levels.
