3.Introducingthe PLC network communication technology.

The Principles and Applications of Microcomputer System

Course description:

This course is the introduction to the principle and application ofMCS-51microcontroller unit.

The course consists of four parts:

1.The inner hardware structure and the working principle and application of the inner functional unit of MCS-51 microcontroller unit, including the clock circuit, the reset circuit, the inner interrupt system, the timer/counter and the serial COM port;

2.The MCS-51 assemble language instruction repertoire, the basic MCS-51 assemble language programming;

3.Extended interface circuit design, including memorizer, I/O extending, keyboard, display, micro-printer, BCD code switch, A/D & D/A interface circuit design and various driver programming for above different interface circuits;

4.The software and hardware design of the application system of the microcontroller unit, the development and debugging of the application system with emulator and the anti-jamming design of the application system.

Course description:This subject comprises of two parts: first on distributed control system (DCS) and the second, on fieldbus technologies. The fundamental knowledge of DCS, fieldbus technologies and their applications are covered.In the first part, the student is given a basic understanding of the main conception of DCS, ranging fromthedevelopmenthistory,general architecture,communicationnetworks, to thecontrolalgorithms of DCS.The second part aims to expose students to the basic principle of fieldbus technologies.Topics includeProfibus technology, Foundation Fieldbus technology, Lonwork system for building automation, Controller Area Network (CAN) system for automotive industry, Control Net andDevice Net.Practical examples on common industrial applications integrating withDCSandfield bustechnologies are then illustrated.
